I was not completely truthful in my last note; Middleware is not the last conference I will be reviewing for. I did sign up for one more. I am very happy to help out Willy Zwaenepoel on the program committee of Eurosys 2006, a new systems conference to be held in Europe next year. The deadline for that conference is in early October. Which means you will have ample time to mull over those unreasonable remarks from the SOSP reviewers and turn you work into a great paper at this conference.

So this is effectively replacing the SIGOPS European Workshop? Seems plausible (I remember a debate at the last one over this), but why have the next one in the same town as the 2004 workshop? Variety is the spice of life :)

I don't think it is Willy's goal to replace EW, but more to add a full blown conference that will always be located in Europe. I wouldn't be surprised if the EW would just continue. But the choice of venue is indeed unfortunate. there are so many great places to choose from ....
