Where am I?

It took a long time to get my act together to start posting again. Mainly it is just a matter of time and energy. I don't even have time to read blogs, and my ego isn't so inflated that I desperately need to post.

What happened in the past weeks?

After much deliberation we decided to rent a house. To spend half million dollars or more on a house, which seems to be common around here, we need to find a house to be really enthusiastic about, not something far from perfect just because you "have to". Ironically the house we are renting is wonderful, and I would gladly buy it.

The house is in Sommerset, a community on a hill near the south-east corner of the crossing of I90 and 450. We are near the top of the hill and the view is hard to describe. Magnificent doesn't even come close. We have a broad sweeping view of all of Lake Washington, with Seattle behind it, backed by the Olympic Mountains. Breath-taking, everyday again. Pictures soon.

We moved into the house last week, when the truck with household goods arrived from Ithaca. The house is still packed with many boxes to be opened, and it is likely that it will take a month or two before everything is actually processed.

We also have a period without Internet, as the house did not have cable, and we are too far from the CO to get SpeakEasy's 6 mbit/sec DSL deal. Comcast is now coming to get cable into the house, but that is taking a few weeks. I have decided to get the HD service to build our new home theater. I will be looking for advice later on what to buy to get started there.

At the new job, things are still hectic. It will take at least until the end of the year before I really have a good view of all the components that make up But I am having the time of my life. In hindsight I should have made this move years ago. This is also the most exciting time of the year at Amazon, so I get to see lot of the internals exposed as we scale up for the holidays.

pictures, please :-)

Hey maybe I'll have a better chance to see you when I travel to Seattle than when I got myself 45 min. from Ithaca! Now I have to go to Ithaca anyway to see my friends' new baby.
