QNX faces the music

Holy Cow! One of my favorite OS makers, QNX, has been acquired by Audio product maker Harman International. I am always skeptical about acquisitions where the target becomes a 'completely independent division' in the new parent company, so I cincerely hope that the QNX folks can continue to do their excellent job.

In my eyes QNX has been one of the few OS companies that has brought true innovation to the OS market. They have stuck to their vision of a minimal micro-kernel with good service composition techniques to build out the OS. In some sense it was unfortunate that they never entered the general market, it would have been good to see a true modern OS competing with the old monolithic unix clones.
