Self Regenerative Systems

Last year DARPA issued only a few sollicitations for research proposals, and the one most of important for the distributed systems community was BAA-003-44, on "Self-Regenerative Systems". I wrote about it at the time we were preparing to send in a proposal.

It appears DARPA received an overwhelming response to the solicitation, but only very few projects were going to be funded. Allthough I have not seen any official press releases yet, I think it is safe by now to tell the outside world that our proposal is indeed one of the very few which is going to be funded under this program. Our research, which focusses on the scalability, robustness and survivability of event-based distributed systems, will be a collaboration with Johanness Gehrke and Paul Francis, and with a team at Raytheon.
