And the Oscar goes to ...

Lots of spotlight on Cornellians these days. Steve Marschner, here at Computer Science, will receive an Academy Award for Technical Achievement. Together with two Stanford colleagues he receives the award for work on the modeling of subsurface scattering of light.

However most attention goes to Steve Squyres these days. He is on the faculty of the Astronomy department, but more importantly one of the most visible scientist of the Mars Exploration Rover Mission. Cornell Astronomy maintains the Project Athena website, with a lot of interesting and cool educational material on the Mars Missions.
