The Grocery

Another great new store launched today: Amazon.com Grocery

An Amazon store filled non-perishable grocery items all eligible for Prime and Super Saver Shipping.

An important new feature was launched alongside of it: Shopping Lists. This is like a wish list but you can use it for repeat purchases, different quantities and more.

Dewitt rates it as the coolest store of the year, but I think the Scientific & Industrial store launched last week is definitely the main competition for that honor.

Ha!

For what it's worth, my del.icio.us bookmark for the Science & Industrial store is: "Rock on. A whole amazon store devoted to making stuff!"

But having just lost our neighborhood grocery, I'm going with Amazon Grocery for the internet launch that will change my life the most this year.

As the son of a quality control inspector for a screw machine company where I also did a few summer stints, sure, the threaded brass rods make my pulse quicken. :-)

But the CTO at Amazon? I gotta ask why.

My vote for best new Amazon release is the Science and Industrial store. As a former chemist and now a gadget hobbyist, I like having parts available. Yes, I think grocery is cool, but I like to lay my hands on before I buy most groceries. Hard to find parts and raw materials? Gimme dat!
